Score More, Win More: How the Ball System Works

Basic Scoring for Player Stats:

For Forwards:

Goal (G): 4 points

Assist (A): 2 points

Penalty Minutes (PIM):

1 minute: -0.5 points

2 minutes: -1 point

5 minutes: -2 points

Shots on Goal (SOG): 0.5 points

Hat Trick (HT): 5 points (bonus for scoring 3 goals in a game)

Power Play Points (PPP): 1 point for a goal or assist on the power play

For Defensemen:

Goal (G): 5 points

Assist (A): 3 points

Penalty Minutes (PIM):

1 minute: -0.5 points

2 minutes: -1 point

5 minutes: -2 points

Shots on Goal (SOG): 0.5 points

Power Play Points (PPP): 1 point for a goal or assist on the power play

For Goalies:

Win (W): 6 points

Shutout (SO): 4 points (bonus for a goalie’s shutout)

Save (SV): 0.5 points

Goals Against (GA): -1 point for every goal allowed

Penalty Minutes (PIM): -0.5 points per minute

Minutes Played (MP): 0.1 point per minute played (up to 60 minutes)

Special Scoring Events:

Overtime Goal (OTG) or Shootout Goal (SO): +2 points (for both skaters and goalies)

Plus/Minus (±):

+1 point for each + rating

-1 point for each - rating

Bonus Points for Exceptional Performances:

Hat Trick: +5 points (when a player scores 3 goals in one game)

Fight Win: +3 points (for a fight win, as awarded by the league)

Game-Winning Goal (GWG): +2 points

Assist on Game-Winning Goal: +1 point
